The MSc “Sleep Medicine” was established in the academic year 2013–2014 and re-established in 2018–2019. The program leads to the award of a postgraduate degree
(diploma) upon successful completion of the courses and the presentation of the master’s thesis. Each educational cycle lasts for three semesters, with the final semester devoted to the preparation of the thesis, which constitutes original research work.
The curriculum focuses on sleep disorders, which are of increasing prevalence and have a negative impact on patients’ physical and mental health, as well as their quality of life. These disorders are known to be associated with obesity, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases such as arterial hypertension, heart failure, stroke, and diabetes mellitus.
The aim of the program is postgraduate teaching, research, and practical training in Sleep Medicine, with the objective of providing students with the knowledge and specialized skills required for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sleep disorders.
The program’s coordinators have made every effort to ensure high-quality postgraduate education, with the participation of specialized instructors possessing extensive experience from Greece and abroad. The teaching staff includes experts from both the basic sciences and the clinical specialties of Sleep Medicine. The content of the courses is continuously updated in each academic cycle, reflecting the latest developments and advances in the field of Sleep Medicine.
The purpose of the program is to offer students a comprehensive understanding of sleep disorders and to equip them with the necessary qualifications for their future professional and academic careers.
